From up and coming talents to established Grammy winners, musicians have always found a home on JCAL stages. Programs like Friday Nights at JAC have showcased promising talents within the community while Thursday Night Jazz and Jamaica Downtown Jazz Festival have brought world renowned artists to Southeast Queens.
JCAL has proudly worked with bold and creative dancers through workshops, performances and programs. Each dance season has brought new, boundary pushing talents to JCAL and JPAC stages. Annual festivals like the Making Moves Dance Festival and Queensboro Dance Festival have presented culture and entertainment to the community
Visual Art Alums
Over the years, JCAL's galleries have been home to a diverse and talented number of individuals. Emerging and mid career artists have exhibited their work in the annual Artist Co-op, and artist residencies are supported through programs like ARTWorks, Inc. In addition to the galleries, artists have been able to showcase their talent in the community through the Contemporary project Jamaica Flux.
Led by professional Teaching Artists, JCAL's School of the Arts has helped cultivate the creativity of a wide range of students. With free or low-cost after-school and summer programs, and over 50 different arts workshops, education is both accessible and fun at JCAL.
