I am a visual artist, photographer and maker of things. I am a seeker, an observer and conjurer of patterns and forms. I have exhibited my work locally and in the Bronx.
At present, I am exploring with old scrapbook pages collected by my late grandfather. He had amassed over 50 years of clippings from African-American newspapers and magazines as research for his history book. But time was unkind and dementia set in and took his memories away. Many of his beloved, well toiled scrapbooks also fell victim to the vicissitudes of time. Fortunately, there is grace and many do remain in shabby attire of their former glory. So, what you see in my sketchbook are the beginnings of restoration of their former splendor by using the headlines he chose as form and concept for my upcoming works of art.
Gratefully, Lisa Wade and grandaddy Julian.
