Here's 3 upcoming JCAL events to watch from home

As JCAL has remained committed to our mission of providing high-quality, accessible arts programming to the community, we've quickly shifted dozens of classes, workshops and performances to JCAL Online. Check out our upcoming events below and subscribe to our Youtube to tune in to our online programs!

Monstah Black: Cotton

This dance film will be accompanied by a live musical performance on June 5th @ 7:30 PM on our Facebook. The work investigates the idea of physical transformation as a source for healing. Black employs images from slavery as a point of departure, modifying the images into positive iconography to inspire and empower those that suffered and continue to suffer from its ugly legacy.

Community and Culture

Community And Culture is an Online Exhibition of Artworks by Queens College Art Education Graduate Students on view May 20 - June 28, 2020. There will be an Artist Talk on Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 7pm, giving the artists opportunity to discuss their projects in more detail and start a dialogue with the audience. The event will be held via Zoom.

Thursday Night Jazz

While nothing beats a performance in our landmark buildings, we've shifted Thursday Night Jazz online for now. Next up is acclaimed

Jazz vocalist Thana Alex on June 11th, 8 PM. She is the 2016 and 2017 Downbeat Critic’s Poll Rising Female Vocalist, runner up in the 2014 Made in NY Jazz Competition, winner of the 2011 Jazzon Alpe-Adria International Competition and nominee in the category of Best Jazz Composition for the 2011 PORIN Awards - the Croatian Music Academy’s honor equivalent to the Grammy Awards in America.
