Project Title: Un Asiento En La Mesa (You can't sit with us) [Working title]
Project Description: Misra Walker transforms materials that represent forms of black power, working-class resistance, and self determination. The Bronx-based artist’s project Un Asiento En La Mesa (You can't sit with us) creates a series of public domino tables based off of material research on radical iconography and products that stem from legacies of slavery, racism, and capitalism specific to Jamaica, Queens. Community members will be invited to participate in public discussions as well as a Un Asiento En La Mesa domino tournament, for which there will be a cash prize.
