Klugherz, Alice

New York NY

Alice keeps a journal of things that interest and bother her. This material is used to write performance work from an aging, feminist perspective. Alice makes work to keep from becoming invisible, pointing and underlining how older woman are marginalized and made to feel invisible. She serves up slices of life that hide in plain sight and follows it to its humorous and sometimes appalling conclusion. The ideas expressed in the piece, the movement and the dialogue line up the way thoughts move: out of order. Her journal writings are like eggs: some become fully staged works with movement and costumes, and others become performance monologues.
