Aldanodo, Susana

Astoria, NY

I’m an
Abstract Expressionist artist based in NYC.
I’m inspired by music, people and rain.
Tango and jazz influence my paintings more than any other music genre, and I think that is because of how I feel identified by both, there is also a certain nostalgic and passionate feeling attached to both, related to my own experience as an artist. Both have deep roots in the struggles of life for - in the case of tango immigrants, and in the case of jazz, black people. They both tell a story of struggles of people who worked hard to express nostalgia or a feeling that arose out of oppression. They both tell the story of finding something good in a situation that is difficult. Tango music tells stories, of struggles, about love, about defeat, about Buenos Aires and its people.
Both tango and jazz inspire my work.
