Since the start of the "New York on Pause" order from Gov. Cuomo, I've been documenting mine and my boyfriend's lives inside our condo in Rockland, NY. We were both Queens natives, having grown up in Richmond Hill only one block away from each other, until last year when we moved north to the "outer" NY suburbs. The images are an attempt to keep a personal archive of these historic events. Not to mention the dynamic of living with a first responder of the city. Danny (my boyfriend) was just finishing up the FDNY EMS academy at Fort Totten in Bayside when the peak number of COVID cases were on the rise. As he was emerging into a new career, I was, like most New Yorkers at this point, furloughed from my current job.
