I use a custom domino board inscribed with twenty five vital values to express the thoughts and ideas of Caribbean participants on various topics. Using the domino board in artistic ways interests me a lot. My thoughts and ideas around the Caribbean community is that they immigrate from other countries to the United States in hopes of improving their quality of life. So they take advantage of all the opportunities available to them in this country to improve their lives. I hope that the domino board helps initiate the discussion among the participants. The twenty five values on the board are recognition, joy, privacy, faith, community, service, creativity, wealth, honesty, love, growth, knowledge, justice, diversity, security, sacrifice, wisdom, truth, health, and freedom.
Monnero Guervil (aka. MRGS NYC, i.e., MR. G Serves NYC) is an educator and domino enthusiast from New York City. His custom domino playing board displays twenty-five values. He loves all things Caribbean culture and is always down for some good food, drinks, dominos, and discussion.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MRGS NYC is unable to have participants come to the gallery. As a result, he presents photographs of the play and he is willing to play the game with people who are at JCAL.
