Gallery and Meeting Rooms
All public areas of Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning are wheelchair accessible. JCAL’s Gallery is located on the first floor. Meeting and studio spaces located on the second and third floors are accessible via the elevator located in the theatre lobby.

Seating for People with Mobility Impairments
The in-house theatre has 5 steps outside the entrance. A motorized chair lift is available in the theatre lobby. Seating is available in the rear of our 99-seat theater. The seating in this area is open floor space unobstructed with fixed seating. The size and design of the theatre, ensures every seat has a clear unobstructed view of the stage. This section is general admission and seating is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Information regarding particular needs of individual patrons is very important to us. If it is desired or necessary, patrons may advise us of type of impairment, the size of a wheelchair (if applicable), preference to use our theatre seats or remaining in own chair, etc. Our Visitor Services Coordinator will pass this information on to our performance staff to help us better prepare.

Classes for the Developmentally Disabled
JCAL offers workshops for developmentally disabled teens and adults. We work with AABR, the Association for the Advancement of the Blind and Retarded, to offer a dance class for their residents. During our National Dance Week event in April, we also offered a special dance workshop for the Young Adult Institute. JCAL is currently developing special needs classes in theatre, visual arts and yoga.
